It’s been an interesting month so far. I went to what they call a spring fling, which isn’t as saucy as you might think. But, I’ll tell you one thing: they do love their homemade pies here. The event’s main attraction is a bake sale that sees homemade pies command upwards of $1,000 each. That’s incredible. In fact, one pie baked by a sweet lady named Val sold for more than $1,100. That’s not a typo. For basically two months rent here, you could own a pie. So the question becomes, what’s the secret? “Well, anyone who says ‘ love is priceless’ should come to Hettinger because I found a pie baked with a ton of it. The going rate? $1,100.
